She was predeceased by: her parents, Romulus F. Russell and Hattie B. Russell; her husband Winfred Clay Bivens; her granddaughter Nena Bivens; her brother Wade Russell; her great grandchildren, Rowan and Finley Bivens; and her close friend Evelyn Durst.
She is survived by: her children, Robert W. Bivens (Susan) of Mills River and Cheryl B. Waugh (Clyde) of Thomasville; her grandchildren, Robert Elliott Bivens (Kristin) of Williamsburg, VA, Denise DeHart of Elberta, AL, Johnathan Waugh (Erin) of Chapel Hill, Matthew Waugh (Elizabeth) of Summerfield and Michael Waugh of Thomasville; her great grandchildren, Carlie, Abbie, Chanler, Quinn, Hudson, Beckett, Sammy, Tanner (Hallie), Lacey, Nash and Piper; and her niece Linda Willard (Harold).
