He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Byrd and Eva Lee Rook Byrd; his sister Linda Lowder; his brothers-in-law, Robert "Lynn" Lowder and Gary Pollock; and his granddaughter Hailey Blayke Simmons.

He is survived by: his wife Buffi Buffington Byrd; his children, James Rachal of Denton, Kristie Hewett (Steven) of Trinity, Stacie Simmons (Nick) of Thomasville and Kyndrah Byrd of Thomasville; his siblings, Rock Byrd (Sheryl) of Trinity, Jerry Byrd of Thomasville, Mark Byrd (Lisa) of Thomasville, Mary Pollock of Thomasville, Brenda Anwar of Thomasville and Emily Holt of High Point; and his grandchildren, Alexi Rachal, Kayden Rachal, Carter Younts, Madelyn Byrd, Jazzmyn Donovan, Chloe Hewett, Aubrie Simmons, Evelyn Hewett and Cash Simmons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Kenny's memory to Davidson County Cancer Services, 25 W. 6th Avenue, Lexington, NC 27292.
