He was predeceased by: his father Glenn Oakes; and his brother Greg Oakes. He is survived by: his mother Ruth V. Greek Oakes of Illinois; his wife Mary Oakes; his children, Johan Oakes of New York, Michelle Reynolds (Aaron) of Illinois, Amy Pijarowski (Mike) of Indiana, Bobbie Oakes of North Carolina and Darling Hoyos (Nestor) of New York; his grandchildren, Ethan Reynolds, Reese Reynolds and Joshua Pijarowski; his sister Beth Heath (Dave) of Washington; and his sister-in-law Sandy Oakes.
