She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Harold Gilman, Sr. and Nannie Mae Kagley Gilman; her husband Jack Johnston, Jr.; and her sister Mary Margaret Pierce. She is survived by: her children, April Carter (Scott) of Thomasville and Jack "Jamie" Johnston, III of Thomasville; her adoptive son Michael E. Horne (Robin) of Lexington; her grandchildren, Katlin Moose (Jeremy), Lillie Carter (Jeffery Stanley), Callie Carter and Riley Horne; her great grandchildren, Lennox of Wytheville, VA, Moose of Wytheville, VA, Paul Allen Gilman (Sue) of Wytheville, VA and Charles Harold Gilman, Jr. (Phyllis) of Wytheville, VA; and her sister Arlene Shelton (Garland) of Popular Camp, VA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
