It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Robert Cody (Thomasville, North Carolina), who passed away on November 21, 2021, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Silas Cody and Martishie Pierce Cody; and his former wife Rachel Russell Cody. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Pritchett Cavin; his children, Vicki Veazey (Dan) of Hendersonville, NC and Phillip Cody (Jen) of Lexington; his stepdaughters, Donna Dennis (Ray) of Sophia and Robin Carico of Sophia; his siblings, Albert Cody (Lorece) of Lexington, Pauline Thompson of Kernersville, Minnie Smith of Archdale and Nancy Blanton of Kernersville; his grandchildren, John Veazey (Lindsay), Joanna Brooks (Zac) and Drew Cody (McKenzie); his great grandchildren, Emmarie, Robert, Xander, Sibley, Holloway and Ruth; and his caregiver Candy Bailey (Bluebird). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will gather to receive friends following the graveside service in the fellowship hall at Piney Grove UMC, 7564 Jackson Creek Rd. Denton, NC from 2:30 – 4:30 PM, at which masks are requested.
