He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Chester Ashby and Mary Magdalene Barnes Ashby; his stepchildren, Bobby Barnes and Tara Oxendine; and his sisters, Betty Dillon and Patricia Palmer.
He is survived by: his children, Matt Ashby (Heather) and Jennifer Forshee (Sam); his grandchildren, Austin Ashby, Will Ashby, John Forshee, Lacy Forshee, Bobby Barnes, Tessa Barnes, Hallie Oxendine and Tori Mincey (Avery); his brothers, Kenneth Ashby (Linda) and Stephen Ashby (Heather); his stepson-in-law Rick Oxendine (Tonya); and his brothers-in-law, Tim Dillon and Jerry Palmer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
