He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Newby Kennedy and Vivian Black Kennedy; his wife Helen Johnson Kennedy; his siblings, Dorothy Kennedy Anderson, Hilda Kennedy Vaughn and Harold Ray Kennedy; and his granddaughter Caitlin Kennedy Kelly.

He is survived by: his children, Marcia Kennedy of Thomasville, Kim Kennedy Kelly of Apex and Harold Stuart Kennedy (Valerie) of Thomasville; his grandchildren, Nicole Scott (Jon), Adrien Doughty (Clint), Thomas Weston Hawkins and Alexander Stuart Kennedy; and his great grandchildren, Daxton Doughty and Bishop Scott.
