He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Farrell Safewright and Mary Elizabeth Bullard; and his stepmother Ruby Safewright. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Ellen" Safewright; his sons, David Grant Safewright (Amanda) of Thomasville and Shean Harris of Thomasville; his half-brother Jerry Huber of Thomasville; and his sisters, Carolyn Morgan of Lexington and Diane Foushee of Spencer.
