He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Garrett and Anna Lunsford Garrett; and his former wife Irma Childers Garrett. He is survived by: his wife Betty Watford Garrett; his daughters, Sandy Mitchell (Troy), Angie Garrett, Melissa Garrett and Gina Burrow; and his grandchildren, Rodney Cribb, Jonathan Bryant (Cortney), Chris Chappell, Justin Bryant, Steven Cribb, Ethan Chambers, Gina Robyn Burrow and Sherry Cribb. He is also survived by four step grandchildren, six great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Wayside Tabernacle Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund at 3035 Upper Lake Rd, Thomasville, NC 27360.
