She was predeceased by: her parents, Luther Otis Irby and Barbara Ellen Bowes Irby; her husband Samuel Mellard Oakley; and her brother Clyde Weldon Irby. She is survived by: her siblings, Barbara Jean Irby Gooch of Thomasville, Lillie Mae Irby Womack (Larry) of Cluster Springs, VA and Luther Wayne Irby of Salisbury; and her stepchildren, Samuel Mellard Oakley, Jr. of Creedmoor, Vickie Oakley Davis (Phillip) of Kernersville and Sybil Oakley Holt (Tim) of Roxboro. She is also survived by five nieces; three nephews; five step-grandchildren; many grandnieces and grandnephews.
