It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jean Blakeney Hughes (Terrell, North Carolina), born in Jefferson, South Carolina, who passed away on May 13, 2023, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl T. Blakeney and Jessie "Mammy" Nelson Blakeney; her husband Dewitt Hughes; and her siblings, Wincy Porter, Jessie "Ned" Dunn, Bonnie Blakeney, Emma Ledwell and Carl Blakeney.

She is survived by: her daughter Jeannene Allen (Johnny) of Lake Norman; and her sister Doris Jones of Denver.
