With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ricky Don Thornton Jr. of Teachey, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 26, 2024 at the age of 44. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his mother Cindy Honeycutt; his grandparents, Earl, Ethel Thornton, Jessie and Ernie Honeycutt; and his father-in-law Robert Knowles, Sr..

He is survived by: his father Ricky Don Thornton, Sr. (Linda) of Teachey; his wife Ivy Simmons Thornton; his children, Anthony Olney of New York and Jessie Mae Thornton; his mother-in-law Phoebe Knowles of Wallace; his siblings, Joseph Mack Herring (Chelsea) of Wendell, Randy Neal Williams of Clinton, Ashley Brooke Guerry (Joey) of South Carolina and Jessica Griffin (Brian) of Albertson; his brother-in-law Michael Simmons (Kim) of Kemprer; his close friends, Randal Jones (Farrah) of Wallace and Eddie Boyette (Kim) of Rose Hill; and his daughters, Ivy and Phoebe. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
