She was predeceased by: her father Howard Finley Hodges; her husband Ernest Lee Richards; and her siblings, Dimple Elmore and Worley Hodges. She is survived by: her children, Eric Richards and Lynn Keller Taylorsville; her siblings, Dennie Hodges (Frances) of Hickory, Donnie Hodges (Jane) of Virginia, Ronnie Hodges (Sharon) of Statesville, Nita Dobbs of Granite Falls, Betty Parsons and Brenda Presnell; and her sister-in-law Mary Ann Mull (Jim) of Granite Falls. She is also survived by three grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
