He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ray Matheson and Mary Marie Fincannon Matheson; and his brothers, John Ray "June" Matheson Jr. and Glenn Monroe "Wildman" Matheson (Vickie). He is survived by: his wife Janet "Kaye" Bragg Matheson; his children, John Carter Matheson and Mary Lee Dial of Glasgow; his siblings, Roy "Neil" Matheson of Taylorsville, Kenneth Matheson of Taylorsville, Bobby Matheson (Teresa) of Taylorsville, Richard Matheson of Taylorsville and Brenda Sue "Susie" Webster (Michael) of Hiddenite; and his granddaughters, Pailynn Marie Dial of Glasgow, Makaylee Rene Dial of Glasgow and Madilynn "Madie" Grace Dial of Glasgow. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
