He is survived by: his wife Sandra Shull Austin; his children, Denita Stafford, Todd Austin (Becky), Jeffrey Thrift and Blain Thrift; his siblings, Sue Austin Land (Tommy), Kay Austin Baker and Ray Austin (Barbara); his sisters-in-law, LaDonn Watkins (Sam), Martha Brogdon (Rick) and Lena Austin Pennell; his grandchildren, Zachary Stafford, Vanessa Shook, Eden Austin, Eli Austin and Josh Thrift; his great grandchildren, Lukas and Nora Shook; and his friend Flaxen Reid.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the Alexander Funeral Service (193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681). A funeral service was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 at the Taylorsville City Cemetery (537 1st Ave Dr SE, Taylorsville, NC 28681).
