Richard Blake Childers October 3, 1952 — November 1, 2024 Richard Blake Childers, age 72, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House in Iredell. Born on Friday, October 3, 1952, in Alexander County, Richard led a life characterized by hard work, dedication, and a love of the outdoors.
During his working career, he operated as a truck driver, a profession that allowed him to interact with people from all walks of life. Richard found joy in the simple pleasures of life, which included hunting, horseback riding, and fishing. These hobbies brought him closer to nature and offered him moments of peace and reflection.
Richard's legacy will be cherished by his family, including his son, Jason Blake Childers (Bobbi), and his grandson, Devin Minton. He is also survived by his sister, Gladys Minton, and brothers, Waitsell Dean Childers and Gene Childers. Additionally, he leaves behind two special nephews Mike Lail and Doug Childers, along with a number of other nieces and nephews who will fondly remember the impact he had on their lives.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Elsie Hubbard Childers.
Visitation for Richard will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm, both taking place at the Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville, NC. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Sam Villini will officiate. Michael Lail, Paul Lail, Devin Minton, Douglas Childers, Matthew Childers, Jason Wessollek, and Shawn Childers will serve as pallbearers.
Richard touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed. His memory will live on through the stories shared by his family and friends, as they honor the man who led a life filled with hard work, adventure, and love.
