She was predeceased by: her parents, Ben Gentry and Lottie Eller Hewitt of Newton; her brother Ben Hewitt, Jr.; and her significant other Dr. E. Max Schrum. She is survived by: her children, Edwin Max Schrum, Jr. (Mindy Lee Franks) of Boone, NC, David Marshall (Kay Blackard Schrum) of Raleigh, NC, Martha Schrum Conrad (Greg) of Bethlehem, NC and Harry Hewitt (Deborah Starnes Schrum) of Taylorsville, NC.; her grandchildren, Anna Schrum Gore (Bill) of Whiteville, NC, Mary Schrum Spoelstra (Gerrit) of Driggs, Idaho, Evan Michael Schrum (Maya) of Washington, DC, Molly Schrum Ditzler (Mike) of Cape Canaveral, FL, Ryan Conrad (Ashley) of Bethlehem, NC, Sabrah Schrum of Bermuda Run, NC, Matthew Schrum of Taylorsville, NC and Meredith Schrum Lerm (Dane) of Taylorsville, NC; her great grandchildren, Will, Grace Gore, Tyler, Kaylin Ditzler, Isaiah Watson, Trucker, Loretta Spoelstra, Eshaan, Neela Schrum and Jack Conrad; and her sister Linda Hewitt Burnette of Newton, N. C.
