She was predeceased by: her parents, Butler Nathaniel and Marylou Lowe Brookshire; her granddaughter Courtney Brooke Johnston; and her siblings, J. Lee, B. Clee, Fred, Earl, Nay Brookshire, Ethel B. Wallace, Margie B. Miller and Mary B. Teague.
She is survived by: her son-in-law Kelvin G. Johnston; her husband Lynn D. Dyson; her children, Gerald Dyson (Jeanette) of Statesville, Gigi D. Johnston of Statesville and Robert Dyson (Cynthia) of Statesville; her grandchildren, Christopher Johnston (Julianna) of Jefferson, Bradley Dyson (Jennifer) of Taylorsville and Chelsea D. Hancock; and her great grandchildren, Slavik, Anna, Miriam, Jubilee, Leah Brooke, Isaac, Andrew, Judah Kage Johnston, Audrey, Jayce, Sawyer Dyson and Gabriel Liam Hancock.
