He was predeceased by: his parents, William McKinley Herman and Lelia Pennell Herman; his wife Rachel Davis Herman; his son Marvin Eugene Herman; his great grandchild Summer Lee Herman; and his siblings, Alma Mays, Robert Lester Herman, Calvin Coolidge Herman, Junior McKinley Herman and James Earl Herman.

He is survived by: his daughter Sandra Herman Chapman (Allen) of Connelly Springs; and his grandchildren, Eric Lynn Herman, Chris Allen Herman, Wesley Allen Chapman and Lisa Herman Perdue. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
