He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Shafter Childress and Annie Ball Childress; his siblings, John Childress and Janie Greenwood; his granddaughter Sabra Wilmoth; and his great grandchild Cole Carson.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Irene Childress; his children, Roger Childress, Robert Childress (Tina), Deby Evans (Reggie) and Karen Echerd (Eugene); and his grandchildren, Justin Childress (Candy), Kisha Carson (Brian), Nathan Echerd (Ashlyn), Ryan Echerd, Dakota Passmore and Ashlyn Passmore. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, six siblings, and a number of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
