He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruce R. Cockrell and Effie Combs Cockrell; his foster parents, Parks Rector and Pearl Rector; his foster brother Donnie Rector; and his stepdaughter Jennifer Elaine Stafford.
He is survived by: his wife Colene Cockrell; his stepchildren, Michael "Brace" Warren (Jean) and Teresa Ann Womack (Mark); his half-sister Priscilla Smith (Loyle); and his foster brother E. D. Rector (Laura Neil).
