He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruby Howell and Issac Carlton; his wife Henrietta Howell; his siblings, Jerry Pete Howell, Paul Howell, Howard Carlton, Ted Carlton, Roy Carlton, John Jack Rogers, Louise H. Hill, Mary E. Carlton, Loraine Grimes, Ruth Howell Parsons and Sadie Howell Vannoy; and his grandson Kevin Brent Howell.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Howell and Kelvin Howell (Gerri); his adoptive sons, Dr. Harlan Hicks, Daryl Davidson, Dr. CJ Foulks and Billy Frye (Karen) of Claremont; his grandchildren, Sherika Howell, Marsha H. Gray Janel Howell (Kent), Patrick Howell and Alishia Lackey; his great grandchildren, Hezekiah Tucker and Josh "Peanut" Brown; and his siblings, Ralph Carlton, Robert Carlton (Diane) of Boomer, Ernestine C. Surratt Lula Carlton (Morris) of Boomer and Dorothy C. Saner of Boomer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
Due to Covid, Taylorsville Presbyterian Church will serve as an overflow for those who would like to attend the funeral on Saturday.
