He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon L. Lyda and Beatrice Calloway Lyda; his siblings, Charles Lyda, Donald Lyda and Elizabeth Lyda; his grandson Wayne Bost; and his brother-in-law Clyde Bryant.
He is survived by: his wife DeRae Benfield Lyda; his children, James V. Lyda (Debby) of Lincolnton, Patricia E. Lyda (Sam White) of Maiden Donna, White of Newton Sharon, Turner (Jeff) of Lincolnton Cathy and Beach (Mike) of Bethlehem; his sister Helen Bryant; his grandchildren, Dr. Laurie Lyda, Jamie Lyda, Suzie, Devin Lyda, Haley Lyda, Evan Bost III (April), Texie White, Kelli Shuffler, Justin Shuffler (Whitney) and Ashley Cazire (Ryan); and his great grandchildren, Evan Bost IV, Kurtis Bost, Lilliana Sigmon, Bennett Shuffler and Brody Shuffler.
