He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Robbie; his parents, Carl Murphy and Ethel Murphy; his sons, Carl Murphy (Sharon) and Larry Newhall (Pepper); his siblings, Alvin Murphy (LaRue) and Margie Abernethy (Gary); his sister-in-law Violet Murphy; and his niece Denise Cooper (Betsy).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Marine Corps League or Toys for Tots.
