He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert "Glenn" Shook and Burbie Hefner Shook; his wife Elizabeth B. Shook; and his siblings, Harvey, Conley, Marvin, Herman and Betty Chapman.

He is survived by: his children, Lori Shook (Tracy), Gina Shook-Deal, Tommy Shook (Sarah Pennell) and Charlie Shook (Susan Caudle); his grandchildren, Joshua Deal (Jill), Brandon Deal (Kelly), Alisha Hollar (Ethan), Charles "Trey" Shook, III, Abigail Shook and Peyton Shook; his great grandchildren, Isabella Deal, Emery Deal, Liam Deal, Annie Hollar, Charlotte "Lizzie" Deal, Mellody Hollar and Addison Hollar; and his siblings, Pauline Fox, Martha Kirby, Carolyn Sigmon (Cloyd), Jimmy (Janice) and Steve. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
