He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Mae Myers West; his children, Darrell West of Wilkesboro, Alvin West Jr. (Annette) of Wilkesboro and Suzanna Chavez (Modio) of Wilkesboro; and his siblings, Lester West (Susie) of Wilkesboro, Betsy Walker of Taylorsville and Lola Pennington (Don) of Wilkesboro. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
