She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvis Edward Moore and Flossie Hendren Moore; her husband Franklin Alexander Childers (Alex); and her brothers, Robert Moore and Conrad Moore.

She is survived by: her daughters, Elaine Childers George (Neil) of Taylorsville and Linda Childers Chapman (Dennis) of Taylorsville; her grandchildren, Kevin George (Leslie) of Taylorsville, Monica Hamby (Ricky) of Taylorsville, Kelly Milward (Mike) of Charleston, SC, Mathieu Chapman (Sallie) of Gastonia and Morgan Chapman (Beth) of Washington, DC; her great grandchildren, Kamden, Keaton, Myka, Alex, Davis, Lillian, Lucas and Bennett; and her nephew Richard Roach.

Due to Covid, there will be no formal visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Gideons International at Po Box 517; Taylorsville, NC 28681.

“Elaine, you may not remember me, but I am a sister of your former friend Mabel Costner Jones. My name is Marie Costner Brown, and I live in Lynchburg, VA. I always liked both your parents very much. They were quiet personalities, but very nice and pleasant to talk with. I was able to talk with them a few times in recent years when they would come to the hospital and visit my Uncle Waitsel Childers. You have my deepest sympathy. Losing one's Mother is a great loss. Best wishes and prayers.”
