He was predeceased by: his former wife Elaine Stokes; his parents, Walter Stokes and Jessie Stokes; and his siblings, Carol Phillips, Jerri Tanner and Joe Stokes.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Stokes; his sons, Stephen Stokes Jr., Jason Stokes, Jimmy Braswell and Brooks Braswell; his grandchildren, Scott, Jacob, Dylan, Taylor, Kaleigh, Courtney, McKenzie, Kevin, Jason, Abigail, Ruth and Naomi; and his brother Gordan Stokes. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
