He is survived by: his children, Karen Gay Callaway (Joseph Newton Callaway, II) of Winterville, NC, Kimberley Gay Agnew (Fred Jeffrey Agnew) of Gainesville, GA and Mack Lee Gay, III (Kristie Echols Gay) of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Agnew (Whitney) of Vestavia Hills, AL, Joseph Newton Callaway, III (Erin) of Boston, MA, Evan Benjamin Callaway (Sophia Arabadjis) of Santa Barbara, CA, Gay Anne Agnew Haynes (Landry) of Alpharetta, GA, Dayna Agnew Bennett (Jordan) of Cumming, GA, Elizabeth Corbett Gay of Raleigh and Grace Caroline Gay of Raleigh; and his sister Frances Ward Gay of Alexandria, VA.. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
