He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph S. Gardner and Alma Tew Gardner; his son Bert Dew III; and his brothers, Freddie and Edward Rook.
He is survived by: his wife Cathy R. Gardner; his son Jeremy Dail (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Amber Dew and Bert Dew; his great grandchildren, Zoey Barber and Greyson Smith; and his sister Susie Wallace.
