He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Cordelia "Ladybug" Joyner; and his sister Carol Hatchel. He is survived by: his parents, George Thomas Joyner and Emily Hyman Joyner; his wife Susan Howard Joyner; his children, Jackie Luanne Joyner and Gary Joyner; his grandchildren, Noelle Walters (Andrew), Cierra Joyner (Brandan) and Gary Wayne Joyner, III; his brother Herbert Lewis; and his uncle G. C. Hyman. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; and his four legged best friend.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations are made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 3204 Western Blvd., Tarboro, NC 27886.
