Geneva Best Strickland Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Geneva Best Strickland of Tar Heel, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 19, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Geneva Best may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Geneva Best touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leon Best and Ellen Waller Best; her siblings, Selby Best (Shelby Weeks Best) and Doris Vann Pate (Hugh Pate); her daughter-in-law Amber Strickland; and her grandsons, Tyler and Kendall Strickland.
She is survived by: her sons, James Clark Strickland (Loretta), George Blake Strickland (Donna) and Leon Scott Strickland (Christy Austin). She is also survived by six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two grandsons-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Tyndall Funeral Home (1005 N Church St, Mt Olive, NC 28365). A burial was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Wayne Memorial Park (2925 US-117, Dudley, NC 28333).
