He was predeceased by: his parents, Rhonoake Strickland and Reba Margaret Causey Strickland; his wife Lora Kay Graham Strickland; his siblings-in-law, Ronald Carson Shelly and Paula Walters Strickland; and his nephew Rudy Shelly.
He is survived by: his children, Chuck Powell, Loressa Powell Sawyer (Buck) of Aynor and Charla Powell Clemons (Joe) of Myrtle Beach; his grandchildren, Colby Clemons, Kayla Clemons, Chelsea Sawyer and Cole Grainger; and his siblings, Spencer Strickland of Tabor City, NC and Sherry Shelley of Green Sea, SC.
