He was predeceased by: his parents, Julia Marguerite Jackson and Melvin Clifton Thompson Sr.; his brothers, Melvin Clifton Thompson Jr. and Alan Thompson; and his nephew TJ Thompson.

He is survived by: his brother Tommy McRae of Florence, SC; and his nieces, Julia Long (Kevin) of Conway, SC and Nicki Thompson of Inlet Beach, FL..
