With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Muriel Ann Whisnant Smith (Sylva, North Carolina), born in Morganton, North Carolina, who passed away on January 3, 2024 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Lloyd and Ellie Mae Smith Whisnant; and her husband Warren C. Smith. She is survived by: her son Dr. Warren Michael Smith (Teresa) of Bryson City; her grandson Jordan M. Smith of Bryson City; her great grandchildren, Julie Smith and Samantha Smith; her niece Rita McCoy Hoglen; her nephews, Tracy Chapman and Ty Chapman; her siblings-in-law, Opal Moore and Donald Chapman; and her close friends, Jane Perry and Jan Lindsay (Ronnie).
