He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Carlin and Louise Wikle McMahan; his son Scotty; and his siblings, Danny, Reggie, Olin and Maggie Brendle.

He is survived by: his wife Linda (Donaldson); and his siblings, Douglas, Huey, Dickie and Rosa Lee Bowers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
