With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Irene M. Kessler (Sylva, North Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 8, 2025 at the age of 87. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Irene M. Kessler to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Jane Brereton and Peter Brereton; and her sister Ann Catrini (Vincent). She is survived by: her children, Shirley (Irene) and Irene; her husband Joseph Kessler; her brother-in-law Tom Harrison; her aunt Kathleen; her daughter Eileen Kessler-Gorton; and her siblings, Lorraine Harrison (Tom) and Dermot Brereton (Judy). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting scientific research on the study of the diseases of the human brain, specifically the causes and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and dementia to which Irene, her father Peter Brereton, her eldest sister, Ann Catrini, and her younger sister's husband Tom Harrison, succumbed.
