He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Smith and Mattie Lankford Smith of Swannanoa, NC.; and his sister Ina Brown. He is survived by: his wife Johnnie Runion Smith; his son Steve; his grandsons, Trevor and Brandon; his great grandchild Paxton; his stepchildren, Joy Gabe and Gary Norris; and his granddaughters, Amelia Ray and Michelle Lott.
