He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett "Bud" and Kathleen Shelton (Martin); and his brothers, Russell Shelton and Stewart Shelton. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Shelton (Geouge); his daughters, Charla Weiser (Michael) of Ferny Creek and Angela Cook (Tommy) of Knoxville, TN.; his grandchildren, Jackson, Caitlyn, Kurt Weiser of Australia, Laura and Daniel Cook of Knoxville; his brothers, Eldwin Shelton (Shirley) and Ronald Shelton of Marshall; his sisters-in-law, Debbie Shelton and Marilyn Shelton of Marshall; and his godson Bill McGee Jr. of Fairview. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929, a charity dear to his heart.
