He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Simpson; his children, Kenan Simpson (Sabrina) of Washington, DC, Kerem Simpson (Carissa) of Fayetteville, NC, Perihan Warren (Timothy) of Wilmington, NC, Deniz Dawson (William) of Fayetteville and Anita McKnight (Jimmy) of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Jessica Beckner, Danielle Holtzworth (Daniel), Evelyn Cowley, Matthew McKnight, James McKnight, Lauren Dawson, Justin Riewestahl and Elias Simpson; and his caregivers, Sandra King and Heather Hairston. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
