He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Harry Barthelme and Dorothy Barthelme; his daughter-in-law Joyce Elaine Howe; his wife Kathleen-Ann Brady; his children, Brian E. Barthelme (Diana) of Pensacola, FL, Gwen Lynn Barthelme-Russell (John) of Los Angeles, CA, Jeffrey W. Barthelme of Buffalo, NY and Howard Gregory (Linda) of Milton, DE; his stepdaughter Kera A. Brady of Myrtle Beach, SC.; his grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher (Brian), Killian, Caitlynne (Gwen), Gabrielle, Joseph (Jeffrey), Kerry, Melissa and Betsy (Howard); and his great grandchildren, Jameson (Christopher), Harper, Hank (Melissa), Kaitlin and Brianna (Kerry).

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Dick's memory be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, 1414 Physicians Drive Wilmington, NC 28401.
