It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lawrence Martin Bates of Sunset Beach, North Carolina, who passed away on December 9, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Sydney Davies; and his parents, Edgar Bates and Betty Okazaki. He is survived by: his wife Carol Verbilla Bates; his children, Larry Bates (Kim) of Huntingtown, MD and Jennifer Curry (Kyle) of Warrenton, VA; his grandson Tyler Davies of Ashburn, VA; his siblings, William Jairett of Mt. Dora, FL, Robert Bates of San Antonio, TX, Roberta Kimura of Mililani, HI and Karen Hirai of Mililani, HI; and his pet Lexi. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in the form of donations to Paws-Ability or Children's Cancer Research Fund.
