She was predeceased by : her parents, Baxter Lee Austin and Hessie Hill Austin; and her husband Leon Newell. She is survived by : her son Kenny Newell (Susan) of Sunset Beach; her granddaughter Bailey McGalliard (Evan) of Roebuck, SC; and her great grandchildren, Sage and Tilly McGalliard. She is also survived by eight siblings.

Donations can be made in her memory to the Boston Terrier Rescue of North Carolina.
