He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Smith and Victoria L. Smith (Spainhour); his wife Gloria Jean (Ward); his son Jon Gary Moore; and his brother Clayton "Bud" Smith.
He is survived by: his pet JJ; his children, Jeffery G. Moore (Teresa), Wendy M. Sylvestri (Richard Jr) and Jay G. Moore (Lisa); his daughter-in-law Terri; his grandchildren, Richard E. Sylvestri and Kortny "Jean" Bishop; his great grandchild Hazel Jean Bishop; his grandchild Kacey Weatherly (Brian); his great grandchild Adley; his grandchild Kolton Stevens (Colleen); and his daughters, Morgan and Allie.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Waterswamp Hunt Club (176 Water Swamp Rd, Sunbury, NC 27979).
