He is survived by: his wife Nancy Gibson; his daughter Julia Gibson; his stepdaughter Jessica Potts; and his siblings, Patricia Gibson Addison and Robert Walker Gibson (Patsy). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the NC Textile Foundation at 1020 Main Campus Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606, to the attention of Donna Grant. Contributions can also be made to the Julian Gibson Elementary School Foundation, honoring Richard's late father.
