He is survived by: his wife Mary Frances Wingfield Lankford; his daughter Heather Lankford Whitt (Matt) of Greensboro, NC; his brothers, Bobby Lankford of Martinsville, VA and Fred Lankford III; his wife Fran of High Point, NC; his sister Patsy Lankford Oliver (Sherman) of Ridgeway, VA; and his grandchildren, Mason Whitt and Colton Whitt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Brenner Children's Hospital, 1 Medical Center Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27157 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave, Greensboro, NC 27405.
