She was predeceased by: her parent Samuel Buchanan; her son Zane Downer; and her siblings, Roy Buchanan, Jo Ann Silver, Irene Greene and Edna McKinney.
She is survived by: her parent Mary Howell Buchanan; her children, Hilda Downer of Sugar Grove, NC, Teresa Trice of Burnsville and Kim Downer (Julie) of Bakersville; her siblings, Muriel Grindstaff of Penland and Archie Buchanan of Marion; and her grandchildren, Alex Downer, Branch Richter, Thomas Shuck, Meade Richter and Serena Downer.
