He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Eugene and Lucille Ellen Bentley; his son Billy Elder; his grandson Michael Elder; his stepgrandson Stanley Ratliff; and his brother David Elder.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ruth Pennell Elder; his children, Juanita Connolly (Mark), Robbie Elder, Mary Jean Ratliff (Sherman) and Michael Kilby; his sister Dianne Beal; his grandchildren, Amanda Elder, Evan Elder, Emily Connolly, Alicia Ratliff, Ethan Connolly and Alex Ratliff; and his great grandchildren, Paislee Elder and Riley Moose.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Jude Children's, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn 38105 or to Hiddenite Community Food Pantry, Fire Department Ct.
