With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Retta Ruth Sharpe Benfield of Stony Point, North Carolina, who passed away on October 19, 2020 at the age of 102. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Nelson Sharpe and Mary Head Sharpe; her husband Noel Denton Benfield Sr.; and her siblings, Leonard Sharpe, Maurice Sharpe, Ray Sharpe, Oren Sharpe, Ronald Sharpe, Vera Sharpe Mayberry, Ethel Sharpe Meadows, Maie Sharpe Sprinkle, Ruby Sharpe Gant and Nellie Sharpe Patterson.
She is survived by: her stepchildren, Nadine Benfield Chapman (Gene) of Stony Point, Noel Denton Benfield Jr. (Jackie) of Gastonia and Alyce Benfield Joines of Greensboro; her grandchildren, Kevin Chapman, Fonda Chapman Adams (Dale), Deanna Chapman Hissim (Dale), Andrew Chapman, Ashleigh Benfield Whitchurch (Dale) and Noel Denton Benfield III; and her great grandchildren, Jared Adams, Logan Adams, Patrick Hissim, Illyana Chapman, Amaryna Chapman and Riley Whitchurch.
