He was predeceased by: his parents, John Spenser and Eva Cinathia Combs Martin; and his siblings, Bill Martin, Atwell and Cathrine Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Emma Lee Byrd Martin; his grandchildren, Pastor Wesley Hammer (Paige) of Taylorsville, Tracy Hammer of Stony Point, Jordan Lail (Heather) of Statesville, Adam Lail (Nicole) of Statesville and Mykah Johnson (Scott) of Stony Point; his great grandchildren, Isaac, Landon, Luke Hammer, Paxton and Lincoln Lail; his great great grandchild Beckett Hammer; his sisters, Betty Norton of Taylorsville and Maggie Sherrill of Taylorsville; his niece Sheila Pennell; and his nephew Bobby Norton of Taylorville.
